I painted this piece while floating down Cataract Canyon in October, 2018. The trip launched from Moab Utah, and floated close to 100 miles down the Colorado River, into Lake Powell. On multiple occasions we floated into the night with our rafts tied together, trying to gain mileage through the low water, slow moving sections of the river. This painting was inspired by our night float past the confluence of the Green River, lit by the (almost) full moon.
