I painted this piece after surfing my first reef break at San Elijo State Beach. I had the opportunity to spend five days surfing a break outside of a friend’s surf camp. This painting was inspired by one night that we watched the sun set during our evening surf session (after being in the water nearly 10 hours that day) and still didn’t motivate to go in until the waves were black.
