I painted this piece while floating down Cataract Canyon in October, 2018. The trip launched from Moab Utah, and floated close to 100 miles down the Colorado River, into Lake Powell. For all but one day of the trip, we tied our rafts together and floated on flat water, which gave me lots of time to paint the surrounding landscapes. This painting was started mid trip, looking up stream, with Monument Valley in the distance. And yes, there is a wrinkle in the paper because i rolled in up and kept in in my amo can on the boat so it wouldn’t get wet but I could take it out and work on it while we floated!
